Is there a way to turn off notifications?

You may turn off notifications for individual flights. On the My Trips page, tap the flight for which you do not want to receive notifications and navigate to the flight details page for it. Tap the 'Info' button at the top of this page. You will see an option for 'Notifications' and you switch the button to the 'OFF' position.
